Our lab and collaborators have traveled throughout North America collecting and analyzing samples from extreme environments that in some ways can act as analogs to environments we might see on other worlds in our solar system. This work is to identify and characterize the morphology and motility present in these harsh environments. Additionally this work focuses on techniques to improve our ability to observe motile organisms using advanced imaging techniques, such as, digital holography.
